LOT Programme of Activities Since 2002, LOT has offered weekly structured mentoring and enrichment programmes to enhance the personal, social and academic development of children and young people. Workshop activities include: • Grammar and vocabulary slot • One to on/group mentoring support • Presentation and Networking • Leadership and life coaching sessions in partnership with FIX-UP Seminars • Drug Awareness • Volunteering • Educational and cultural visits to the theatre, Summer School, • Residentials, etc. • Fundraising and sponsorship events • Global citizenship, youth exchange and attendance at the annual Black MBA Business Education conference in the USA • Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy • Exam and interview techniques • Arts based project through Peckham Space (Camberwell College of Arts) • Debating and understanding current and global events • Presentation Awards and Celebration of Achievements Here are some examples of practical workshop sessions: • ABC of Life • Action Jackson Fix-up Seminars • Goal Chart • Have the Rhino Mentality • Leadership Styles • LOT Ghetto Grammar • Mentoring Workshop • Presentation and Celebration of Achievements Working in Schools Young people are selected or nominated from London secondary schools and youth groups. Since 2002, the following schools have participated in the Programme:Bishop Thomas Grant City of London Academy Globe Academy Kingsdale Foundation School St. Martins in the Field Walworth Academy Edenham High School Forest Hill Boys’ School Harris Academy, Bermondsey Peckham Academy St. Saviour’s & St. Olave’s School We also offer in-school support to students at risk from exclusion and to those who could benefit from a more intense motivational programme. See outline of programmes available to schools… LOT National Black MBA Association Business Education Conference Each year our young people attend the life changing National Black MBA Business Education conference USA. Young delegates benefit from inspirational business education seminars on entrepreneurship and wealth creation, the power of youth leadership, public speaking for visibility and profit, presentation, networking skills and overcoming challenges to reach success at a young age. In September 2012, a group of young people, with their chaperones, will attend the five-day conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. Please see programme outline... When & where we meet... |
